    Oil extends gain as stocks struggle

    Oil prices rose on Thursday after a rally in the previous session on concerns about President Donald Trump’s anti-globalization agenda, with crude extending gains to close at its highest since December.

    Stocks struggle after Wall Street selloff

    U.S. equities slid on Wednesday after Wall Street had its worst day of the year on Tuesday, which was led by Amazon’s (AZMN) dive and disappointing earnings from Coca-Cola (KO). The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 1.4% to 23,656.08 points, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.6% to 2,575.31 points and the Nasdaq Composite shed 0.5% to 6,876.49 points.

    The U.K. currency was the best performer of the day on Wednesday, as it climbed to three-week highs after inflation data beat expectations and retail sales surprised to the upside in January, while investors turned their attention to this week’s Brexit votes ahead of next week’s summit.
